Oak Knoll Elementary School has received $5,500 in grant funding from the Laura Bush Foundation to purchase books for its media center. The grant will enable the media center’s book collection to include books that are more reflective of its diverse student body. Books that portray positive images of African Americans and Hispanics, including fiction, non-fiction, biographies and books on tape/CDs, will be part the grant’s purchases.
The Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries awarded more than $850,000 in grants to school libraries. These grants will help 158 school libraries across the nation to expand, update and diversify their library book collections.
