Two Woodland teachers have taken some newly acquired technology and "formulated" some creative ways to engage their students. |

"The sixth grade was introduced to another form of technology recently and they absolutely loved it! The document camera was used to allow student writing to be projected onto the Promethean Board. They were very excited to see their own work as well as others. We also utilized the document camera if students forgot their Holt Handbook. They were taking notes on two different days and this allowed everyone to be on task and not fall behind. We will be using this tool in the future to compare more writing as well as review for the CRCT" --Lisa Hicks-Howard/ 6th Grade Language Arts |
"There are a hundred and one ways the document camera enhances a classroom’s environment in order to exemplify a 21st century classroom. Research has proven that the adolescent learns best when the classroom is student- centered and not teacher- centered. The document camera has helped me to do just that! The document camera has enabled me to become “eco-friendly” in that it prevents the use of the copier because it has the capabilities of capturing images and recording. For example, if I wanted the class to read an article, I would place the article under the camera and zoom in on specific details. I am able to construct marks on the screen to emphasize important aspects of the article. Also, I teach my students the significance of standing erect, looking upward, and projecting their voices when presenting a presentation. The students enjoy recording themselves while presenting, so they can observe the strong and weak aspects of their presentation." --Ki'Amber Waller/ 7th Grade Science
