CONNECTING with CONNECTIONS
A Multimedia, Interdisciplinary Approach to Learning
Media One/US West Grant
US West and Media One 1997/98
Connecting Teachers with Technology Award
The US West/Media One Grant Team from Woodland ES have developed a unique approach to instruction involving history and music. We have developed multimedia, interdisciplinary lessons using a hands on approach to learning which emphasizes student centered use of technology. Using this method of learning has allowed students and teachers to go beyond being passive consumers to becoming active producers.
The emphasis of this project has been to further students use of technology while encouraging creative and critical thinking. All students have created their own multimedia presentations using Hyperstudio and have been motivated in new directions and challenged to explore beyond their present levels of interest, expertise, and abilities.
The training manual for "Connecting with Connections" includes lessons for replicating this project. Also included are many multimedia Hyperstudio presentation which are available for your use.
You will also find bibliographical references which we have found useful, and multimedia resources successfully used in the classroom. The links provided have proven to be important parts of this project. We hope this project will help your class expand their horizons of both music and history. Please be in touch with any ideas you might add to our project.
