AMERICAN CULTURAL CONNECTION
A grant from Fulton County School Arts Program at Woodland Elementary Charter School featuring the Atlanta Percussion  Trio ( Scott Douglas, John Lawless & Jeff Kershner).

Our culture ties us all together. Within our culture there is  a history of commonality and diversity, a past with conflict, and a past that shows significant cooperation. Examining these cultural and social differences is a study of our history, from where we have come. Even more important, these connections are a probe into who we are today.

The purpose of this grant is to draw on commonalities in the curriculum between art, music, language arts, and social studies at 4th- and 5th-grade levels. Using these connections, we will explore a complete picture of our culture.

The Atlanta Percussion Trio will present 4 to 5 lessons to all classes using these interdisciplinary materials. These lessons are correlated with both state and national standards in music, language arts, and social studies.
