About Us



Serving students from the tri-cities area of south Fulton County, Paul D. West Middle is located in East Point. The school was established as a middle school in 1982 and was named for a former Fulton County School System superintendent. Prior to its conversion to a middle school, the building was home to Headland High. A beautiful, state-of-the-art facility opened in 2002.

School Goals
The faculty and staff at Paul West are committed to providing the best possible environment for its students so they will achieve in all areas of life--academically, emotionally, physically and socially. In an effort to meet those needs, we endeavor to create an atmosphere that is positive and open. Students are encouraged to take an active roll in the school and have a wide range of extracurricular activities to enhance their learning. We are committed to bridging the gap between elementary and high school.

Unique Assets
Paul West has an outstanding After-School Program, Mentoring Program, two multi-age teams which allow students to remain with the same team of teachers for the three years they attend Paul West, Looping which allows students to have the same team of teachers for seventh and eighth grades, Closed Circuit broadcasting of announcements each morning by students, and ìEî class Certification which is a designation given to students and classes who exhibit clearly-defined behaviors needed for success in school.

Awards & Recognitions
Paul D. West has reigned as national SECME (Southeastern Consortium for Minorities in Engineering) champions for the past eight years, and our school has received the Golden Apple Award for outstanding parent and volunteer participation. Our Closed Circuit Broadcast received the Best Morning Cablecast Award from the Georgia Alliance for Community Media. Paul West is a Distinguished Title One School for students achieving or exceeding State Standards in reading and mathematics for three consecutive years.
