I am originally from Cross, South Carolina...a small town near Charleston, South Carolina. I have seven brothers and sisters and too many nieces and nephews to name. My mother and father emphasized and modeled a strong faith in God, an appreciation for learning, a strong work ethic, a love for family, and a commitment to community. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University. I hold school leadership degrees from the University of South Carolina (M.Ed.), Georgia State University (Ed.S.), and Mercer University (Ph.D.).
I have been an elementary and middle school teacher. I have worked as a middle and high school assistant principal. As an educator with the Fulton County School system, I have worked as an assistant principal at Tri-Cities High School. I was the principal at Banneker High School. Presently, I am the proud principal of Harriet Tubman Elementary School.

I enjoy sports; especially football, reading, traveling, and spending time with family, and friends.

Like Dr. Middleton, I am also from a small town.  I grew up in Ringgold, Georgia just outside Chattanooga, Tennessee.  I am a product of Georgia’s public schools.  One of my favorite teachers was Ms. Owens, my high school chemistry teacher.  She set high expectations and pushed me to reach my fullest potential.  Another favorite teacher, Mrs. Towns, taught me to think about my role in the larger community and make sure I was a productive citizen in our great state and country.
I have an undergraduate degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Georgia State University.  In 2000, I graduated from Georgia Tech and married my high school sweetheart.  We now have two children.

I began working at Harriet Tubman Elementary in 2003 as a student teacher.  Since then, I have been a 1 st Grade teacher, Student Support Team Chairperson, 4 th and 5 th Grade Early Intervention Teacher, and the 5 th Grade Mathematics Teacher.  I am proud to be the Assistant Principal at Harriet Tubman Elementary.  The students of Harriet Tubman are capable of great things and I am honored to be a part of their educational experience.
