Principal's Passage

Dear Parents,

For those of you who use Georgia Natural Gas, this company offers the opportunity to enroll in the True Blue Schools Program. GNG understands that a strong school system is integral to a community's success. That's why they created the TrueBlue Schools® Program - a simple fundraising solution open to all residential natural gas users.  If you are a Georgia Natural Gas customer please make sure you register your account at www.trueblueschools.com/support  and $5.00 a month per participant will go to SHE.  If you are new to the program and you sign up SHE will also get a one time donation of $40.00!

If you are from Cogburn Woods or Crabapple Crossing you will need to go to this site and click on Move/Change Schools in the green tabs and log in to change your school.  If you do not update your profile your money will continue to go to your previous school.   By enrolling in TrueBlue Schools, you automatically help raise money for the Georgia school of your choice. They donate up to $100 a year for every person in our school community who chooses GNG and selects our school.

This quarter SUMMIT HILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL earned $330. In addition, we donated a total of $243,045 to all schools in Georgia! For more information about how to increase participation in the TrueBlue Schools program, please visit www.trueblueschools..com/.  Thank you for supporting SUMMIT HILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL and participating in the TrueBlue Schools® Program.

Have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you at the Fall Carnival on Sunday

Nancy J. Murphy, Principal

Summit Hill will be observing Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 26th - October 30th. Red Ribbon Week is a nationwide campaign to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. During Red Ribbon Week we will have special theme days. In addition to these theme days listed below we will have other activities such as students signing drug free pledge posters, videos, and special music daily.
  • Monday: Pledge Day - Wear Red
Tuesday: Turn your back on drugs day (wear a hat or shirt on backwards) Wednesday: Team up against drugs day (wear your favorite team shirt or jersey)   Thursday: Sock it to drugs day (wear your craziest socks)
  • Friday: Don't be tricked - drugs are no treat Day - Wear Orange and Black
Our theme this year will be "I have better things to do than drugs". Check out our Red Ribbon bulletin board in the main hallway between kindergarten and second grade.
5th Grade "Alive and Classified" Discovery Lab

"Husky High Fives" to all the wonderful parent volunteers who spent time in the Discovery Lab with the 5th graders this week.  Our lab "Alive and Classified" showed how living organisms get named and classified.  The students saw examples of the five kingdoms.  They were able to study the difference of plant and animal cells.  They were brave enough to analyze a real live invertebrate (an earthworm).  And best of all they got to make a candy version of a vertebrate.  Thank you PTA for this terrific program.

SUMMIT HILL SPIRITWEAR

Spiritwear will be sold at Fall Carnival on October 18th.  If you missed out on the previous sale and would still like to order, please stop by the spirit wear table.   If you have questions, please email Tammie Bender at tammiebender@yahoo.com or call 770-740-0096.  The deadline for placing your order will be Wednesday, October 21st
