Edwards Congratulates Stonewall Tell School on Certification Initiative

Stonewall Tell Elementary School Principal Shannon Flounnory (left) and Teacher Dr. Elletta L. Bailey-Denson are congratulated by Commission Vice Chairman William “Bill” Edwards, District 7 (right), on making the school the only one in Georgia and one of three in the nation with 100 percent faculty participation in the “Take One” teacher certification program.

All 71 teachers, plus the principal and two assistant principals, will learn to achieve specific learning outcomes and adapt their teaching methods to the needs of individual students. It is the first of nine steps towards full teacher certification. Dr. Denson, the first African American in Georgia to be fully certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), championed the effort and created a Take One professional development room in the school. Also shown are (from left) Commissioner Robb Pitts, District 5 Commissioner Emma I. Darnell and Chairman John H. Eaves. The school is at 3310 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park.

Welcome Our New Guidance Counselor!

Robin A. Elder

Robin A. Elder completed her Masters Degree in School Guidance Counseling from Cambridge College. Ms. Elder obtained her internship in School Guidance Counseling from Renaissance Elementary and Renaissance Middle School which are similar to the demographics at Stonewall Tell Elementary.  She has worked as a teacher in Cobb County, Atlanta Public Schools and in Fulton County for over seven years. Prior to teaching Ms. Elder worked for AT&T and Verizon Wireless as a sales representative for over 13 years.  Ms. Elder views School Guidance Counseling as a privilege to help the community become whole.  Her passion is to help students, parents, staff, and the community to identify their gifts, abilities, and values in order to improve and to gain success.  Her calling is to empower.

Ms. Elder was born in Baltimore, Maryland but has lived in Atlanta for most of her life.  She was a graduate from Redan High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia and completed her Bachelors Degree from Mercer University.  She has two beautiful daughters, Taylor (14) and Tori (12).  It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that she embraces the opportunity to serve our students, parents and community.
