2008-09 School Year
Early Release Days

The 2008-09 school year calendar has been approved, with a starting date of Monday, August 11, and an ending date of Friday, May 22.

Of special note are the five “Early Release” days which have been expanded to all schools in the county.

On Early Release days, students attend school for half a day. After students leave, teachers spend the afternoon in schoolwide professional development, which allows teachers to receive the additional training they desire without having to leave their local school or give up personal time. Teachers from the Alpharetta and Milton clusters, where it was piloted, reported overwhelmingly positive feedback from the Early Release pilot.

The Early Release Days for 2008-09 are:
9/17, 10/15, 11/19, 2/25, 3/25

Parents, please make any necessary arrangements for these days. On Early Release Days, your child will need to be picked up by 11:20AM or make arrangements for child care on these days.
