Parklane Students become "Accelerated Readers"

This year Grades 1-5 are participating in the
Accelerated Reader program. The emphasis of this program is to encourage
our students to become better readers by practicing their reading skills
in a fun and rewarding way. Students read books designated as "AR" books
and will then take tests which will show that they did indeed read the book.
Points are awarded based on the score for each test. Those points can then
be used to purchase items from our school store.

Click "here" or on the AR banner above to go to the Accelerated Reader page.

Jump Rope for Heart

PURPOSE: To fight against the nations #1 killer - cardiovascular disease
and stroke. The event provides the opportunity for children to perform
community service as they raise funds for the American Heart Association.

Where does the money go? The money each school raises helps fund
potentially life saving research into heart and blood vessel diseases.

Our Physical Education Department just completed the annual Jump Rope For
Heart event with Grades 2nd- 5th. Our school collected $850.00 this year
and $1,250.00 last year
.
