Four months have passed since I started at McClarin.  My focus has been to work with students on self-advocacy skills such as (1) asking questions to clarify instructions and teacher expectations if they are not clear, (2) knowing what accommodations have been written in the IEP and using those accommodations in daily assignments and (3) explaining individual needs to teachers so that individual teachers knows what a student needs to be successful.  In addition, I have worked with individual teachers to modify curriculum, projects and tests.  Finally, I have worked with Instructional Support Teachers from other area high schools to transition students from their home school to McClarin.   Best wishes for a safe and a happy holiday season.
