ENROLLMENT

Independence High School maintains an average enrollment of just over 400 students during the year. Students come not only from North Fulton County but also from neighboring counties. The faculty and staff at Independence believe that this "melting pot" enriches the diversity of our student body and provides an opportunity to share and exchange life experiences, cultures and ideas beyond the parameters of our own community.

While we enroll students from all over the north-metro area, most of our students reside in North Fulton County. The chart below shows student enrollment at Independence based on North Fulton feeder schools.

Centennial 12% Chattahoochee 8% Milton 12% North Springs 12% Northview 2% Riverwood 8%
Roswell 34% Tuition 4%

A breakdown of the diversity of our student population is as follows:

Caucasian 48% African-American 28% Hispanic 14% Asian 4% Bi-Racial 6% Indian 0%

The student population best served in this program are students who have completed two years in a traditional setting and have been recommended for the open campus by the home school. For example:

  • 5th year seniors who have gone through four years in the traditional high school.
  • 4th year seniors trying to graduate early or trying to get on track for graduation.
  • Juniors/sophomores experiencing difficulty in the traditional high schools.
