2008/2009 PTA Programs and Events

Academic Enrichment

Tutoring

The tutoring program is a great way to make a difference! Tutors are matched with a student who they tutor throughout the year in either reading and/or math. It requires only one hour (or less) a week of time and no special training. One-on-one attention is a great help for kids. For more information, please call Caroline Truax.

Reflections Program

2008-2009 Theme:  WOW!

The Reflections Program is an opportunity for students to be creative and express themselves through the arts. PTA believes children deserve a quality arts education, and now in its 39th year, Reflections has encouraged millions of students across the nation and in American schools overseas to creatively express themselves.
Students can choose from 4 categories: Literature, Photography, Visual Arts and Dance. Students may enter as many times as they wish.

  4. how to communicate to an audience

At home, you can encourage your child to participate by using The Art of Expression found in your child’s Reflections packet.

Environmental Education

Programs for environmental education provide information and resources to enrich the environmental education of our students.

One of our programs is the recycling of used inkjet cartridges and cell phones. Give these recyclables to us! With credits we earn, we will purchase new digital cameras and scanners for the Technology Lab. We have collection boxes inside the school for students to drop these recyclables.

Science Night

One day each year is devoted to the exploration of various different scientific activities. Volunteer parents and high school students perform hands-on activities with the students and their teachers, in all classes throughout the day. Last year, in addition to the classroom activities, students entered Roswell's traveling enrichment program's "Earth Balloon" to learn about rain forests, the "ring of fire", time zones, population clusters, migration, man's impact on the earth and endless other topics.

Student & Family Programs
