When is the library open?
The Hillside Media Center is open from 7:20-2:10 each day.

How much can I check out?
Kindergarten/First Grade                  1 item
Second Grade                                     2 items
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade           3 items
Parents                                                 5 items

All items are checked out for a 2 week period. We send out overdue notices on Thursdays. If students have overdue books, they will not be allowed to check anything out until it is returned or paid for.

What can I find in the library?
The library has a large collection of books selected for children. They include Easy Picture books, Fiction Books and Non Fiction Books. Each book is chosen based on the Fulton County curriculum as well as suggestions from teachers, parents and students.

Hillside has a growing bilingual collection in the Media Center. These books are written in both English and in Spanish and are a great opportunity for kids to practice reading in both languages.

In addition to the Children’s Collections, we also have a Professional Collection and a Parent Resource Collection. Click here to see what is in the Parent Resource Collection:

Videos
There are a large number of Videos (both VHS and DVD) available for teachers to use in their classrooms. Teachers can check them out or we can show them to multiple classes over our closed circuit broadcast system. Just like to book selections, videos are chosen according to Fulton County Curriculum as well as suggestions from teachers.

Audio Books
We have many books on tape available. Teachers use these as listening centers in their classrooms. Students will be allowed to check these out with permission from Mrs. Simon.
