Dear Parents,
What’s new at Heards Ferry? Countless things! With so many new families joining us, and with exciting new projects and technology coming to our school, we have chosen “NEW HORIZONS” as our theme for 2009-2010. As the sun rises on this academic year, we envision our children making new friends, learning new technology and pushing themselves to meet new academic challenges! We hope all of you will jump in to support our children in their new experiences by volunteering in the school, supporting our PTA programs, and attending PTA events. Together, we can take that electric feeling of excitement and new possibilities that we all feel on the first day of school, and make it last all year long!
Our goals for this year include the installation and use of new interactive white boards in the 3rd through 5th grade classrooms, new paint in areas of the school, supporting a fabulous new parent social/fundraiser in February, and many more fresh ideas as the school year moves forward! One new feature for this year can be seen at the top of this page! Introducing our new HFE Eagle logo which was professionally designed especially for our school. Keep an eye out for him on all new Heards Ferry apparel at Sneak Peek and items in the school store! We are also excited to announce that a new educational foundation is being formed to benefit Heards Ferry. Look for more information on the Foundation in the upcoming year!
There will be countless opportunities for your family to show your eagle spirit during this year of New Horizons, but the first step for all our families is joining the PTA! At Sneak Peek (8/7) and Back to School Night (8/27), you will have the opportunity to join the PTA. The cost to join is merely $5 per person and we are hoping to get 100% participation from our parents this year! By joining the PTA, you will receive the PTA-sponsored school directory, containing all student, parent and teacher contact information plus class lists and other essential information. The directory will be produced and delivered soon after school starts. The PTA is thrilled to take additional donations of any denomination during Sneak Peek, Back to School Night or any other time of the year to help keep our great PTA programs running! Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Finally, we will need your help in completing our fresh new approach to the HFE newsletter this year, by eliminating paper copies. This is easy! Contained in this Sneak Peek packet is a PTA registration form. We are asking every family to register all their contact information with PTA, even if you have done so in the past. We have included this registration form in the packet so you can bring it to Sneak Peek already filled out, and save yourself some time!
By including your email address on this registration form, your family will receive your weekly HFE newsletter online only! This saves time, money and trees! We will not share your email information with any entities outside of HFE, and you will always be up to date on important HFE information! Thanks for helping us GO GREEN this year!
This will certainly be a year full of new and exciting things at HFE! We look forward to seeing you and your children at Sneak Peek on August 7th, and all the parents at Back to School Night on August 27th. Enjoy these last few days of summer and please contact us with any questions you may have.
