Dr. Alicia Borishade
Principal
Dr. Borishade earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Clark Atlanta University; her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at Clark Atlanta University; and her Education Specialist in Administration and Supervision. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of South Alabama.
After a very successful tenure as a master teacher at Sequoyah Middle School in Dekalb County School System, she was named the 1997 Teacher of the Year. Dr. Borishade was assigned as Assistant Principal at Shamrock Middle School in Dekalb County, and later Assistant Principal at Sandy Springs Middle School in Fulton County. In October 2005, she was selected to lead Crossroads Second Chance North as its first principal. In her sixteen years as a Georgia educator, she’s worked with secondary at risk students striving to instill a sense of purpose and a desire to earn high school diplomas.
Dr. Borishade been called to present at several conferences for students at-risk of not graduating high school. This also includes presentations on the Crossroads Second Chance North program that has a strong focus on academic service learning and the reengagement of disenfranchised learners. Conferences where she's been featured are: Georgia Learn & Serve Conference and Summer Institute; the Joint National Conference on Alternatives to Expulsion, Suspension & Dropping Out of School; the National Youth At Risk Conference; the National Drop-Out Prevention Network and Conference; the Georgia Learn & Serve Conference and Summer Institute; the National Middle School Conference; The Georgia Association for Alternative Education Conference; the National Children, Youth and Families At Risk Conference; and the National Alternatives Education Conference: Alternatives to Expulsion, Suspension & Drop outs.
In addition to jogging and traveling on a regular basis, she enjoys being a mommy most. Her professional affiliations are with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Georgia Association for Alternative Education and the National At-Risk Education Network. Dr. Borishade is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Public Service Sorority.
Her driving philosophy is: “We must convey to children we believe in them.” Dr. Borishade fervently believes that the expectations we have for our students must remain high at all cost; likewise, the support we give to students must equal the expectation.
