Training benefits students, teachers and parents...
Many volunteer opportunities are available in our school, and parents are encouraged to help at Creek View Elementary School. All prospective volunteers MUST take part in the PTA Volunteer Orientation and Training Session held several times throughout the school year. Individuals who have not completed the volunteer orientation and training will not be permitted to volunteer in the classroom or chaperone field trips. Both parents, if applicable, should be trained if they are both interested in volunteering. For example, the parent who has completed the training may not send in the untrained parent to fill-in. Parent readers do not have to complete the training. If you completed the Volunteer Training Class during a previous school year, you will not be required to repeat the training.
Upon entry to the building, everyone must sign-in at the Volunteer Check-In table, and obtain a volunteer badge. Your time and service are important to us. Please remember to sign in, so that our school receives credit for your services. Confidentiality regarding students you are working with or have observed during your volunteer services is required. Contact the PTA, classroom teacher, Media Specialist, Technology Specialist or the Local School Advisory Committee to see where help is needed.
Chaperoning
When acting as a Chaperone on a field trip or school sponsored activity, you will be responsible for a group of children.
Parking
Please park in the front lot, rather than in the fire lanes or in the front car pool circle.
Restrooms
There are adult restrooms located throughout the building.
Student Discipline
Volunteers are not permitted to discipline the students. Please notify a teacher for assistance.
Siblings
Volunteers may not bring a sibling to school when performing duties in the building. This includes ANY activity or duty you may be fulfilling in the classroom for the teacher as well as chaperoning field trips and working in the copy room. This is especially important when working in the classroom. Siblings may also not attend the Young Authors Project celebrations. The only time siblings may accompany you to the building is for lunch in the cafeteria, class reader, and class parties. Siblings may not use the school playground equipment.
Dress
Please be mindful of appropriate attire for working in an elementary school setting. Tennis skirts or dresses, and short shorts are not appropriate.
