Character Education

The Media Center is currently in the process of labeling a large portion of our collection with Lexile reading scores. The Lexile score labels will help the students in our school choose books that are on their appropriate reading level. You can read more about Lexile scores at www.lexile.com.

There are over 6,000 books in the Media Center that need to be labeled and we would greatly appreciate any extra hands to get the labels placed on the books! J Our goal is to have this job completed by the end of November so that our children and teachers can begin taking advantage of this wonderful tool to guide and encourage the love of reading in our students.

If you ever have a free morning, afternoon, or even just an hour, please stop in and label a few books. We would greatly appreciate it!

We are also looking for a few parents to coordinate this project. They will supervise the labeling of books plus the training of our Media Center volunteers. Please email Jessica Jackson, our Media Specialist, at jacksonjm@fultonschools.org if you are interested in doing this.

BIRTHDAY BOOK DEDICATION PROGRAM

Purchase a book for the Media Center in honor of your child's birthday. A birthday bookplate will be placed in the book and it will become a permanent part of the Media Center collection. Your child will be the first to check out and enjoy this new book!

TO PURCHASE A BOOK--

1. Send in $15.00 for a book to be selected by the Media Center staff. (Make checks payable to CCE.) Be sure to include your child's name, grade/teacher and birthdate.

OR

2. Come in and select a book with your child from our birthday book collection before or after school in the Media Center. (7:20-7:50 a.m. or 2:20-2:45 p.m. You can do either of these options anytime during the school year, on or near your child's birthday.)
