teachers on staff in the Art Department at Chattahoochee are state-certified
in art education. Each has his or her own strengths which complement the
others.
Their talents are diverse and they are outstanding in their field. They were
significant contributors to the updated Fulton County Art Education curriculum
which has served as a model for art programs throughout the country.
- Ben Hollingsworth - Ben
began teaching at Chattahoochee in 1993. Prior to that he was
art teacher at Haynes Bridge Middle School for 10 years and taught
one year
at
Palmetto
High
School.
Ben is
a
native
of
Mississippi
where he taught High School Art in Jackson. He has lived in
the Alpharetta area since 1973 which is longer than most people
who consider themselves native Georgian. His first teaching job
in Georgia was in Cobb County where he was Metal Art and Drafting
teacher. Ben has been a graphic artist having worked for graphic
design, display
and
sign
companies.
His teaching responsibilities have included everything from basic
Introduction to Art to all levels of Drawing and Painting, Ceramics,
Sculpture, Commercial Design, all Levels of Photography
and Computer Art. He has also taught middle school art in Cobb
County and Fulton County. Ben has been very active in developing
Fulton County's art curriculum.
Currently he is one of the Department Heads for Fulton County Art
Department of Art Education. As members of the National Art Education
Association Ben and Dorsey serve as co-sponsors of Chattahoochee's
National Art Honor Soceity.
