Photo Design II-IV - Students use 35 mm cameras to produce photographic essays and artistic photographs which concentrate of the elements and principles of design. Students learn to conquer the technical challenges of using a manually controlled camera in order to produce the images which they visualize as the exposure is made in the camera. They then learn to develop the film, make a contact sheet and learn to use the enlarger to produce a print.

Photo II students, the largest segment of the class, concentrate on the elements of line, shape, and work with composition in completing their assignments.

Photo III-IV students choose from a comprehensive list of assignments ranging from photojournalism, advertising photography, portrait photography as well as taking photographs into other assignments using traditional art media .
