SPECIAL PROGRAMS

The Governor's Honors Program is a state sponsored, six week summer residential program for rising Juniors and Seniors. Students are nominated in the five primary academic areas plus art, dance, music, and management. Centennial averages six students a year in this highly competitive program.

Advanced Placement Course examinations are evaluated and scored on a five-point scale where a five is the highest score. Centennial students consistently score within the 3 to 5 score range thus making them potentially eligible for college credit and indicating their well-qualified college entrance performance. The 2005-2006 Advanced Placement Tests resulted in an overall 76% pass rate (pass rate being a score of 3, 4, or 5).

Talented and Gifted Programs serve approximately 25% of Centennial's population. The program augments the classroom activities through seminars, subject extensions, independent or directed studies and career internships.

Joint Enrollment and Post Secondary Options are programs by which students can earn high school graduation credit for courses taken at post-secondary institutions. Courses are offered both on and off campus. The student is simultaneously enrolled at both institutions or may, in fact, attend the post-secondary institution altogether. A key element for this program is the fulfillment by students of the high school graduation requirements as set by the Board of Education.

Services to Exceptional Children are available at Centennial High School .  Centennial is a center-based school serving all exceptionalities.
