Relay for Life of Roswell
Families are encouraged to come out and enjoy the Relay For Life of Roswell at Roswell High School on Friday evening, April 29th. As the signature fundraising activity of the American Cancer Society, the Roswell Relay is one of more than 5,100 around the world. The Relay runs from 6pm Friday until 6am Saturday morning . . . cancer never sleeps, so we can never sleep in our fight against it. Following the Opening Ceremonies at 6pm, cancer Survivors walk the first lap of the Relay and then are treated to dinner. Recognizing that a world with less cancer means a world with more birthdays, the theme this year is "More Birthdays," so it will be one huge all-night birthday party for the entire community! More than 40 teams representing schools and other groups will be selling various food items and other goodies, and there will be entertainment (live music, a magic show, contests, karaoke, etc.) throughout the night for kids and adults of all ages. Come have dinner at the Relay For Life and join in the fun - you won't be disappointed, and you'll also be helping in the fight against cancer! At 9:30pm, the very touching Luminary Ceremony will take place, and at midnight there will be the hilarious Diva Contest. To register as a Survivor or for more information about the Relay For Life of Roswell, visit Roswell Relay for Life, email roswellrelay@gmail.com, or contact event co-chairs Katha Stuart at 404-660-9659 or Sheila Vahey at 770-714-5201.PTSA General Meeting

Snow Make-Up Days
Students will have to make-up two days due to the unprecedented school closures because of the snow and ice in early January. The two make-up days for students will be Friday, March 11, which was set aside as a teacher workday, and Friday, April 22, which originally was a day off for both students and teachers. Teachers will make-up additional workdays. State board of education rules allow “forgiveness” for up to four weather days during the school year, which means that students do not have to make up those days. However, six days of school already have been canceled in 2010-11 – five in January due to snow and ice, and one in December due to icy roads – which leaves two days for students to make up. | Article
