Receiving Textbooks:
In general, all students
are issued the necessary textbooks at the beginning of
the school year or upon registration into Camp Creek Middle School.
In rare cases, a teacher might decide to keep a classroom
set of books for the comfort and convenience of the students.
In these instances, a student may not receive a textbook
for that class.
If a mistake is made and a student does not receive the
required textbooks, it is the responsibility of the student
to contact the textbook administrator and remedy the situation
as soon as possible.
Textbook Responsibility:
Textbooks are the responsibility of the student to whom
they are issued and we strongly advise that the student keeps
them in their locker or on their person at all times. All
books are individually numbered and are the responsibility
of the student who receives them. Lending and leaving books
unattended, even for a short time, has created a lot of headaches
for the student who never receives it back or recovers their
book having to pay for the damage.
If a student loses or damages a textbook, it is the student's
responsibility to resolve the situation with the textbook
coordinator as soon as possible.
Damaged Textbooks:
It is understood that during the course of use a textbook
will show signs of normal wear and tear: even a well kept
book will have rough corners. What constitutes normal wear
and tear is up to the discretion of the textbook coordinator
in consultation with the administration. The minimum
charge for damaged books is $5.00 and will increase
depending on the nature and extent of the damage. Graffiti,
gang signs and water damage automatically make a book
unusable and the student will be charged full replacement
cost. A damage fine will be assessed against a student observed
abusing a book.
If a student has been
issued a textbook with unacceptable damage, a replacement
book will be issued if one is available. It is the student's
responsibility to notify the textbook coordinator of all
damage to a textbook to avoid being charged for the damage.
Failure to notify the textbook coordinator within a week
of issue will result in the student assuming responsibility
for damages.
Return of Textbooks:
All textbooks issued
to a student must be returned in acceptable condition before
the end of the school year or upon withdrawal of the student
from Camp Creek Middle School. Before a report card will be issued or
documentation sent to another school, all missing or damaged
texts must be paid for.
