A Snapshot of Our Students: The blending of the communities of East Point, College Park, Red Oak, Union City, and Fairburn in 1985 resulted in the birth of Camp Creek Middle School, making it the second middle school in South Fulton County. Prior to Camp Creek's inception, its grounds were open farmland with a sparkling creek. With eight hundred ten (810) sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students, the school opened its doors to the community. Currently, Camp Creek serves one thousand ninety-seven (1097) students from over a seven mile radius southwest of the City of Atlanta in College Park, south west of the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport. The highly transient population includes students from a public housing unit, thirty-four (34) apartment complexes, and many single-family dwellings. Four elementary schools feed into Camp Creek and our students attend Westlake High School. The racial component of our student body is 98.2% African-American, .55% White, .18% Asian, .18% Hispanic, and .73% Multi-Racial. Currently, seventy-nine percent (79%) of our students receive financial assistance through the federal lunch program. Sixteen percent (16%) of our students are enrolled in special education programs.
