2009-2010 SAT: |
Important Changes to the SAT Beginning during Spring 2005: Effective with the spring 2005 test dates, the SAT will be changing. The biggest change to the SAT will be the addition of a new writing component which includes a student written essay. In addition to these changes, the verbal section of the test is being renamed critical reading. Analogies will be eliminated and short reading passages will be added to existing long reading passages. The math content will be expanded to include topics from third-year college preparatory math and quantitative comparisons will be eliminated. The new test fee will increase by about $10-12. The new SAT will affect students graduating in 2006 and beyond. Students will need to check with the college or university they are considering to determine if the new SAT will be required for admission.
2008-2009 SAT test dates and registration materials are available in the Guidance Office or online at www.collegeboard.com. Students are strongly encouraged to register for the SAT online.

At the request of Governor Sonny Perdue and State School Superintendent Kathy Cox, the Georgia Legislature appropriated $1,000,000 to provide the College Board Online SAT Prep course to 9th through 12th grade students enrolled in Georgia's public high schools.
