Walk-A-Thon for Warmth

The second annual AMMS Walk-a-Thon for Warmth was held on November 11. Students and teachers walked laps on the AMMS track to raise money for our sister middle school where students are in need of clothing for cooler weather.

Last year AMMS students raised enough money to buy hooded sweatshirts for students at the school, and this year we hope to raise enough to buy long-sleeved T-shirts.

Every month a group of Autrey Mill teachers each select one student to be honored as Autrey Mill’s Student of the Month. Students are chosen based on their displays of good citizenship, responsibility, and overall kindness toward others.

On the first Thursday of the month each student is invited by Dr. Ferrell to eat lunch in the media center with a friend of their choosing. At this luncheon the students receive a small prize and a special treat from one of Autrey Mill’s Business Partners. Each student’s picture is also posted on the bulletin board outside the cafeteria for the entire month.
