NORTH METRO

The North Metro Program is one of 24 programs located throughout the state funded by the Georgia State Legislature through the Georgia Department of Education. The program at Alpharetta serves students who are eligible for services as a result of severe emotional/behavioral problems and/or autism. At present, three classes are designed to serve students through a Community Based model, receiving instruction in functional academics; training in job skills on carefully selected jobsites; and participation in electives and grade-level activities as appropriate. Other students work towards Career Technology or College Preparatory diplomas. These students typically attend a combination of regular education classes, and self-contained academics in either the Interrelated or North Metro setting.  In addition, all students work on individualized behavioral, skill-building and organizational goals as determined by their IEPs.

Support is provided to students and their parents through the North Metro team – caseload teacher and teaching assistants, lead teacher, program coordinator, program psychologist and program social worker.
