WHAT IS BETA????

WHAT IS BETA:

Beta Club is a nationally recognized honorary service organization.  In Beta Club, we focus on serving our community.  Our website is www.betaclub.org.

TO GET IN:

If you are a freshman, you must already be in good standing with your middle school Junior Beta Club.  If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior new to the Alpharetta High School Beta Club, you must have a minimum cumulative average of 88 (including honors/AP points).  Both groups must complete 7 service hours by October 17th.  No hours are needed for old members except for the 15 hrs required each semester.  You must also pay the required fees and turn in your member form by September 8th.  More details will be given at our information meeting for new members August 22nd in the auditorium!

FEES:

Beta Club dues are $25 for new members, even if you were previously in Junior Beta.  Beta Club dues are $10 for members who were in the Beta Club at Alpharetta the previous semester, both probation members and members in good standing.  These fees help us cover national and local dues.

REQUIREMENTS:

Once you are inducted into the National Beta Club, you must continue to keep a minimum cumulative average of 88 (including honors/AP points).  You must also complete service hour and attendance requirements, which will be detailed at our information meeting August 22nd in the auditorium at 8:00.  Failure to do any of the above will result in probation in the club.

MEETINGS:

We meet each 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 8:00 in the auditorium

INDUCTION:

Induction is a formal ceremony in October where new members are officially welcomed into the club.  It also allows us to set the standards for the coming year.

CONVENTION:

Convention takes place every year in February in Atlanta at the Hyatt Regency.  At this event, Beta Clubs throughout the state compete in academics, arts, and state candidacy.  If a club does well, then that club has the option of going to the National Convention in the summer.
