| Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)
Who is the principal?
The new Langston Hughes High School principal is Dr. Michael H. Robinson. For more information, see Dr. Robinson's brief biographical sketch.
When will the faculty and staff be chosen?
Department chair and head coaching positions will be advertised in February 2009. Individual teaching positions will then be filled on an ongoing basis until the school is fully staffed. Additionally, the surplus and volunteer process, which sends administrators, counselors, and teachers to follow students who will be zoned for the new Langston Hughes High School, will be utilized. These employees will come from Creekside High School and Westlake High School. The surplus and volunteer process will take place beginning in March 2009.
Will Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses be offered?
Yes. Advanced Placement subjects will be offered in all subject areas taught by College Board certified teachers, dependent upon student interest. Honors courses will also be offered on a similar basis.
What if a student signs up for a class that does not realize sufficient enrollment?
If this were to occur, the student would have the option of enrolling in an online version of the course through the "virtual campus."
Will the course offerings be exactly the same?
All courses offered at Creekside and Westlake will be offered to students attending the new school, including the specialized programs that can be found here.
