Important Policies |
IMPORTANT - Attendance Policy
The federal No Child Left Behind Act has made attendance at school one aspect of determining whether a school makes Adequate Yearly Progress each year. A new Georgia state law:
- considers children who have 3 unexcused absences in the school year truant and a letter is sent home alerting the parent to the situation,
- requires a student with 7 or more unexcused absences (and their parent(s)) to be referred to juvenile court.
***To avoid truancy, please be sure to send written documentation each time your child is absent.
Home Alone Policy
(Department of Family and Children Services)
* Children 8 and under should not be left alone
* 9—12 year-olds may be left alone for no longer than 2 hours
* 13 years and up may be babysitters and left alone for up to 12 |
