Edwards Congratulates Creekside-Westlake Cluster Schools on Healthy Kids Program

Principals from the Creekside-Westlake Cluster of Fulton County Schools receive a proclamation from Commission Vice Chairman William “Bill” Edwards (center) during the September 3, 2008 Board meeting. They and others were honored for combating childhood obesity through the “Healthy Kids, Smart Kids School/Sugar Free Zone.” The program, being implemented at the 17 schools this year, teaches 20,000 students and employees the importance of healthy eating habits, regular exercise and overall better health. From left are: Denine Cadet, Campbell Elementary; Commissioners Robb Pitts and Lynne Riley; Emily Massey, Seaborn Lee Elementary; Chairman John H. Eaves; Minnie Miller, Camp Creek Middle; Sandra DeShazier, Renaissance Elementary; Maureen Wheeler, Palmetto Elementary; and Vanessa Johnson, Liberty Point Elementary.
