Sara Miller, young-adult librarian from the Alpharetta/Fulton County Public Library, delivered library cards to students and teachers. As part of Teen Reading Week in the Media Center sponsored a library card sign-up drive. Forty students received cards, allowing them access to the resources at all Atlanta County Fulton County public libraries.

Thank you for your interest in the Independence High School Media Center .

Destiny (Independence High School Online Media Center Catalog )

In addition to books, periodicals, and audiovisual resources, the Media Center has twenty-two computers for students to access the Internet and high-quality online databases provided by the Fulton County School System. These excellent online resources are also available to students at home, free of charge, through links provided below. For home use, password information for databases GALE , GROLIER , and GALILEO , is available through the Media Center . All materials provided by the Media Center are selected to support and enhance classroom curriculum based on the current Georgia Performance Standards.

Students are encouraged to browse our bestseller fiction and non-fiction books for recreational reading. We regularly showcase award winning Young Adult titles. We also offer a wide variety of periodicals, and welcome student and staff recommendations for additions to our collection. The goal of the Media Center at Independence High School is to promote information literacy and a love of reading at every opportunity.

We actively encourage students to utilize the resources at the Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library by obtaining a card during our annual Library Card Drive in September. Students can use this card to access a vast array of resources available at the public library: AFCPL

The primary mission of the Media Center staff is to guide students to the best research tools to complete classroom projects. In the process, students gain important skills in information literacy and grow confident about finding information on colleges, careers, community, and personal interests.
