Student Council members are presenting a check
to Mrs. Findlay of Creative Community Services for $700, which
represented the profit that was generated by the carnation sales
on Valentine's Day. The money will be used to fund programs for
children who live in foster homes throughout the Metropolitan
Atlanta area. |
Student Council- Gives all students a voice in activities, policies
and decision- making of our school. Student Council's aim is to promote
student interests and awareness and to coordinate the direct participation
by students. It is designed to instill a sense of government and democracy
among the student body. The students participating develop leadership
skills and responsibility, Student council is charged with promoting
a sense of community and good will within the school. Students are elected
from each homeroom to the Council. Participation in the election requires
a satisfactory or better in conduct, passing all courses, and teacher
recommendation. Members meet twice a month and participate in community
service projects, student recognition, publicity, and school issues.

As part of a special visit to Georgia’s state capitol, eighth
grade Student Council members met with Republican Senator Dan Moody
and sat in on legislative sessions of both the Senate and the House
of Representatives last week. Senator Moody’s administrative assistant
