What
is Junior Beta Club?
Jr. Beta is a national organization that recognizes students for
outstanding academic, service, and leadership performance in grades
5 through 9.
What
are the requirements for membership at HBMS?The
club is open to seventh and eighth grade students who have at
least an 88 overall cumulative grade point average. Members must
also demonstrate leadership in the classroom, which means "satisfactory"
or better conduct grades and a good discipline record with the
administration. Members must also complete at least six hours
of community service for each month in the months of September
through March.
How often does the club meet?
The club
is scheduled to meet monthly during the year. The exact dates
can be obtained from the sponsors. Meetings are after school from
3:45 to 4:45.
What
are some of the club's service projects?
We have a
month long canned food drive in November, a student tutorial program,
the annual Valentine Dances, the Pennies for Patients drive, the
shamrock sale for MDA, a collection of aluminum pop tops to contribute
to the Ronald McDonald House, campus cleanups, Festival of Trees,
and many other activities involving local schools and organizations.
