The Music Department

The Creek View Music Department offers a variety of musical experiences for all children at Creek View in three areas: General music, Vocal music, and Instrumental music.  All students in grades K - 3 particpate in general music.  Students are taught a broad curriculum of music with emphasis on rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, tempo, form, style and music history.  Students also learn performance skills through singing and the use of Orff instruments.  In addition, each year students in various general music classes prepare and present full length student musical theater productions.  Students in 4th and 5th grades have a choice of continuing in general music or enrolling in instrumental music.
Students involved in instrumental music participate in either band or orchestra and learn to play any of the various woodwind, brass, percussion and string instruments.  Instruction is provided for 90 minutes each week and students practice at home and participate in at least two concerts each year.  Students in 4th and 5th grade also have the option of joining the Chorus.  This program focuses on performance training through singing and dancing.  This program meets 45 minutes per week after school and students are involved in many performances each year. The students involved in the Creek View music department maintain an active schedule of learning and performing.  We welcome any student or parent questions regarding any aspect of our music department.
