Our Mission

The mission of the Centennial High School learning community is to provide all students with rigorous, relevant learning experiences that build relationships, to offer ample opportunities to exercise critical thinking skills, and to refine social behavior that will transfer into full participation in the global society. In order to fulfill this mission, faculty and staff will adhere to Centennial’s instructional mission for quality teaching; students will display their learning potential through performance by engaging in learning that is congruent with Centennial’s instructional mission for quality learning; and the community and other stakeholders will help students to develop positive attitudes and confidence in their ability to learn, to work, and to thrive in a diverse school society through multiple academic and co-curricular activities. | Full Document

Senior Parking Info for Spring 2010
The senior parking criteria has changed for the spring semester. There are two major changes:
  • Attendance is no longer a criteria for parking.
  • Seniors wishing to apply for parking MUST attend a Drive Safe, Drive Smart seminar on Tuesday, November 10 at 7:00pm in the auditorium. Parents are also encouraged to attend.
Please refer all senior parking related questions to Mr. Fouts, Assistant Principal.
Fulton County Schools Announces its Future Focus Fair
Fulton County Schools will be holding its first Future Focus Fair on Saturday, November 14th, 2009. All FCSS parents of 7th-12th grade students are invited to come out and hear good advice on how to best prepare their children for a variety of post-secondary options. The event will take place at the Georgia Tech Student Center from 10am-12pm. The featured speaker will be Nancy McDuff, Associate Vice President for Admissions and Enrollment Management at the University of Georgia. Ms. McDuff will also be serving as the moderator for a panel of guest speakers representing the following higher education institutions: GA Tech, GA Perimeter College, Spelman College, SCAD, and Argosy University. The panel discussion will be followed by break-out sessions featuring: GA DOE (CTAE), College Board, Georgia College 411, GA Student Financial Commission (HOPE), KAPLAN, and the ROTC representatives confirmed. Attention Sophomores and Juniors!
Practice makes perfect… The PRA exam will be offered on two early release days: November 18 and February 24. The PRA is a test created by The Princeton Review to expose students to both the SAT and ACT. It is a measurement tool that can help students determine if they would score higher on the SAT or ACT. The PRA has seven 25-minute sections and one 30-minute SAT essay section. Test takers will receive a comprehensive score report detailing students’ strengths and weaknesses on both the SAT and ACT. Cross Country Finishes in the Top Ten at State
At the state cross country meet in Carrollton on Saturday, November 7, the girls team placed 6th with junior Kelly Meyer finishing 15th overall. The boys team took 8th with senior Ryan Knobbe placing 16th.
Swim and Dive Hosts Charity Meet
On Sunday, November 2nd, the Swim and Dive team held their annual Black and Blue charity swim meet. The meet raised $280 and proceeds were donated to the Sam Robb fund in honor of Sam Robb (’05) who lost his battle to cancer in 2007.
Cross Country Teams Headed to State
The 6-AAAAA region cross country meet was successful for both the boys and girls varsity teams as they both took 2nd place which qualifies them for the state tournament on November 7 in Carrolton. Junior Kelly Meyer was the top runner for the girls, placing 4th overall in the girls’ race. Senior Ryan Knobbe was the top scoring runner for the boys and is the boys’ region champ.
Player of Week Honors for McCrary
Senior soccer player Carlos McCrary was recognized as the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Player of the Week for the entire U-17/18 age group for the week of October 5. | Story
Fulton County Cross Country Championships
At the county championships on October 3, the varsity boys came in first, with senior Ryan Knobbe winning the race. The varsity girls came in second, with junior Katie June placing 6th to lead the Knights. The JV teams placed 6th (JV Girls) and 5th (JV Boys). Centennial took home the Overall Best Program trophy for the 2nd time in school history.
Violinist Selected for ASYO
Sophomore violinist George Tang has been selected for the 2009-10 Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Two Musicians Selected for Emory's Youth Orchestra
Junior viola player Cammie Wagner and Sophomore violinist player Sarah Terning have been selected for the Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Wagner will participate in the Emory Youth Chamber Music Program, home of the Vega Quartet.
National Achievement Scholarship Program Semifinalist

Homecoming King and Queen Announced
Seniors Patrick Choi and Megna Saha were named the 2009 Homecoming King and Queen during halftime of the football game on September 25.
Sophomore Earns Rank of Eagle Scout
Sophomore Jeremy Cross received his Eagle Scout rank after a Board of Review on Thursday, September 24.
Homecoming Court Named
Twenty-four students were named to the 2010 Homecoming Court (six from each grade.)
Skills USA Chapter & Members Recognized
Centennia's Skills USA chapter won a trophy at Georgia's Skills USA Fall Leadership Conference September 17-18 in Jekyll Island for having the largest chapter in the state with 232 members. Alex Sheridan was one of 32 students out of almost 1000 participants to receive the 100% Statesman Award. Statesman Award receipients were: Katy Blanton, Miles Carby, Diego Carvallo, Anthony Kuehl, Paige McKay, Greta Radovich, and Gloria Salinas.
National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists
Seniors Michael Gale, Allen Liu, Mark Myer, Bradley Silverman, Patrick Thompson, and Christopher Versteeg have been named semifinalists in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Competition. | Press Release | Story
Sax Player Selected for Honor Band
Senior alto saxophone player Michael Short has been selected for the 2009-10 Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble. The MAYWE is an honor band for students who live in metro Atlanta and is run by the music department at Georgia State University.

Centennial's combined average SAT score for 2009 (1614) is ranked 18th in the state. Read more.

Centennial is one of 27 Georgia high schools designated as an AP Merit School by the College Board, a distinction that recognizes those with at least 20 percent of students taking AP exams and with at least half of those exams receiving a score of three or higher.
