Student Clubs & Organizations
Centennial is proud to offer our students over 50 clubs and organizations that cover a variety of interests: athletic, academic, humanitarian, social, political, cultural, and many others. (Updated September 4, 2010)

| Academic Bowl Team | The Academic Bowl team meets weekly and conducts mock Academic Bowl competitions. The team travels to various tournaments to compete against other high schools throughout the state. The team is a registered member of the Georgia Academic Team Association. | Accolade | The Accolade staff produces eight issues of the student newspaper each year. The staff researches, writes, edits, and designs all of the material for each paper. Staff members develop real-world journalism skills including desktop publishing skills and business management. The staff, comprised of sophomores, juniors, and seniors, is selected through an application process in the spring semester. Staff members are enrolled in a yearlong journalism class; other students may contribute to the paper. | Meets daily 8th period H-40 Leslie Wolfe-Cundiff |
| Achievement Matters! | The Achievement Matters! Program is a commitment to each individual’s right to be supported in their academic achievement. Achievement Matters! appreciates, celebrates and rewards student achievement and character through the partnerships built among administrators, faculty, parents, the community, and local businesses. It also recognizes teachers and staff in their efforts to assist us as a school community. The student leadership committee is an appplication and teacher recommendation basis panel of students. | Anchor Club | Anchor Club is a service organization for young women. Female students who are interested in serving the community complete a minimum number of volunteer service hours throughout the year and meet on a monthly basis. | Art Club | The Art Club is for students passionate about visual art who gather twice a month to help enhance their own enjoyment in art and to promote art at Centennial. In addition to creating their own works of art, the Art Club assists in enhancing the school environment and participates in art related events throughout the year. | Meets during seminar E-57 Charlotte Turner |
| Asian Club | The Asian Club is one of the oldest clubs at Centennial. Asian students meet periodically to express interests and ideas about learning and communicating among the club's more than twenty-five members. Club activities include artistic creation of club t-shirts, cooking contests, celebrations of Asian holidays, and discussions of different topics among Asian teenagers. | Meetings TBA I-55 Ping-Jade Yang |
| Avalon | Avalon is Centennial’s literary/art magazine. Students can submit writing, artwork, and photography in the submission folders in their English classrooms or to G-59. | Aviation Club | The purpose of the Centennial Aviation Club is to teach kids as young as middle school how to understand, fly, and experience the joy of flight in a general aviation aircraft. Through interactive and educational presentations, hands-on activities, and flights in an actual airplane, you will learn everything there is to know to fly an airplane that licensed pilots know. | Beta Club | Beta Club is an honorary service club for students in grades 9-12. Students must have an 87 or better GPA and perform at least ten service hours per semester. | 1st Wed Time TBA I-45 Jessica Taylor |
| Club Latino | The club is open to Hispanic students in grades 9-12. It promotes cultural diversity through cultural celebrations and social activities. | Computer Club | The purpose of the Computer Club is to increase the awareness of the latest developments in the area of technology including career options and to provide information on the computer/technology courses available at Centennial. | Debate Team | The CHS Forensics League is a competitive team that focuses on creating future leaders of America. There is something for everyone in this club, whether you are trying to improve your speaking skills, interested in competitive debate, or striving to refine your poise, organization, and confidence in speaking. | Environmental Club | The Environmental Club is committed to helping maintain and improve our school, local, and global environment. | Executive Student Council | Executive Student Council oversees most student council activities. Each year Executive Student Council plans and sets up the homecoming parade and dance, Hey Day, the teacher appreciation luncheon, and additional fundraisers. Executive Student Council officers are elected in the spring; they, in turn, select representatives for the various committees. | Fellowship of Christian Athletes | Fellowship of Christian Athletes, or FCA, is a student-led organization that encourages fellowship and growth of personal faith. FCA meets on Friday mornings at 7:30 in the auditorium, where there are speakers, small roups, and awesome games and videos. | Fencing Club | We are part of the fast-growing Georgia High School Fencing League (GHSFL), a league of a dozen area schools. Even though sword fighting goes way back, the official sport of fencing dates back to the 1700’s in France. Winning at fencing is a combination of many things: mind, flexibility, hand-eye coordination, and endurance. Fencing promotes balance, precision, and stamina. Practices are twice a week, and the season runs from September through March with tournaments each month. We have elected officers and the students really have a good time. | French Club | The French Club is open to both students of French and to Francophiles. The club meets monthly focusing on varied cultural activities representing aspects of francophone culture. Yearly dues of $10 can be paid at the first meeting. Among those activities are a Mardi Gras celebration, an authentic French breakfast, a feature film presentation, and a French dinner. Meetings for 2010-11: September 9, October 21, November 18 (breakfast in celebration of National French Week), December 6, January 27, February 10, and March 8 (Mardi Gras), and April 14. | Meets Monthly Time TBA H20 Marylou Wiesendanger Kerri Hinds |
| French Exchange Program | Biannually, students in the French program travel to Switzerland in the spring semester. The trip lasts for two weeks, and students have the opportunity to live with Swiss students and families, speak French continuously, and attend a Swiss school while immersing themselves in Swiss culture. These students also serve as host students when the Swiss students complete their leg of the exchange in the U.S. in October. Information will be sent home via French classes for the Swiss Exchange Program early in the second semester. | Marylou Wiesendanger Kerri Hinds |
| French Honor Society | The Société Honoraire de Français is an honorary organization whose aim is to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote high standards of scholarship, and to reward scholastic achievements. Students must be in third year French or above and have an A average in French and an A during the semester of invitation. French/Spanish Breakfast Club | The Breakfast Club is a morning study session designed to help improve study skills and GPA. Students bring their own study materials, study guides for upcoming tests, and questions in subject areas. Peer tutors are available to help. | Freshman Class Council | Students work together to make student life for freshmen fun and enriching. Council activities include: fall festival, football games, hall decorating, data match, and class contests. | Kerri Hinds |
| Future Business Leaders of America | FBLA plans activities that encourage leadership training, community service, school service, and competition in business type events. | Gay-Straight Alliance | GSA addresses the concerns and questions of GLBTQ and straight youth in a safe and accepting environment, and strives to dispel myths, empower students, and provide educational resources, information, and support. | Wed, 8:00 am H-53 Rebecca Hostler-Vaughn |
| German Club | The German Club meets to enjoy cultural aspects of Germany not always available in a large-class setting. We discuss political and cultural events, host Oktoberfest and World Cup parties, and watch and discuss German films. During the years of the German Exchange, the German clubs accompanies the German students to cultural events around Atlanta, and helps to coordinate weekend trips. | Meets monthly Time TBA H-19 Jennifer Davy |
| German Exchange Program | Every two years, students in the German program travel to Germany in the spring semester. | German Honor Society | During their third year in German, students with over a 90% average in German, as well as a cumulative 85% average in all classes are inducted into the German Honor Society. | Health Club | The Health Club helps teens make healthy life choices. Topics covered: appropriate dress, improving self-esteem, preparing for college, career presentation, and what it takes to be successful. | Every other Mon 3:45pm H80A Caroline McLeod |
| Health Occupations Students of America | HOSA is a club for students interested in pursuing careers in medicine. We participate in local, regional, and national competitions in healthcare knowledge and skills such as CPR, First Aid, and more. | Improv Club | The Improv Club practices improvisational acting games as in the TV show Whose Line is it Anyway? Students develop self-confidence working on improvisational and stage presence acting. The Improv Club sponsors the waiters and waitresses at the annual dinner theatre performance. | Interact Club | Sponsored by the Rotary Club of North Fulton, Interact is a service club which provides students with the opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends. Interact is an international organization that fosters leadership and responsible citizenship and promotes international understanding and peace. Interactors must complete at least one community service project and at least one project that furthers international understanding and goodwill. Interactors develop a worldwide network of friendships through exchanges with local and overseas clubs. | Jewish Youth Affiliate | The Jewish Youth Affiliate is a club interested in educating people about the society and cultural traditions of Judaism and is designed to bring Jewish and non-Jewish students together. | Thurs, 7:50 am I-56 Brian Heglund |
| Junior Class Council | The Junior Class Council is responsible for fundraising for and planning the Junior/Senior Prom. Class fundraisers include the annual Sally Foster sale and the Talent Show. | Knotheads | Knotheads is a knitting club for students who are interested in all kinds of crafts and fiber arts projects like knitting, beading, and crochet. | Law Enforcement Explorers | Students interested in careers in law enforcement have the opportunity to train with the Roswell Police Department. | Model UN | The main focus of the Model UN Club is to provide students with an opportunity for hands-on learning concerning global challenges and concerns in the twenty-first century. | Ben Crosby |
| Mu Alpha Theta | Mu Alpha Theta is the national mathematics honor society. The club is responsible for promoting mathematical excellence at Centennial through tutoring and other enrichment opportunities. Events in the past have included Hillside Math Day, Pi Day Celebrations, and Trivia Night at Buffalo Wild Wings Café. This club is designed for those who are strong in math and looking to apply their knowledge and strength in helping others and promoting fun and excitement in mathematical ideas. | Cherine Foutch Nicole Snyder |
| National Honor Society | National Honor Society is a service and academic recognition organization. NHS is established to recognize outstanding high school students. | PALS | The PALS Club is an organization that brings together students of all ability levels for school related activities and social outings. | SADD | "The mission of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) is to provide students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions. | |
| Senior Class Council | The Senior Class Council sponsors activities for the senior class including, but not limited to, Senior Service Day, Senior Week festivities, and Homecoming Week festivities. | Spanish Club | The Spanish club is open to students enrolled in Spanish classes and Spanish speakers. The club focuses on cultural celebrations and social activities. | Spanish Honor Society | The club is a select group of dedicated and passionate upper level Spanish students. We are a service/scholarship club providing assistance to the local Hispanic community as well as to our Centennial community. The students are able to use their Spanish in a variety of authentic settings. The students tutor Spanish 1-2 students, ESOL students, and serve as translators and student helpers at North Fulton Community Charities and other local community events. | Thespian Society | The Thespian Society is an honor society for students who participate in theatre. Membership is gained by performing in or working backstage during productions at Centennial. | Yearbook | The student staff is responsibility for the creation of the yearbook. Students learn the fundamentals of graphic design, editorial writing, and business skills necessary to successfully produce a 500+ page book.
