Achievement Matters! Program

Achievement Matters!

Please welcome a new program to Centennial: Achievement Matters! This initiative rewards excellence at Centennial and involves educators, students, parents, and business partners who share the common mission of student and faculty achievement, recognition, and celebration throughout the school year.

Just as the Hope Scholarship is awarded to students who earn at least an 80 percent GPA, Achievement Matters! will honor students who earn an 80 percent or greater GPA. Honor Cards, which were a cornerstone of the former Renaissance Program, will be presented to students who earn the right to be in the Achievement Matters! program. Achievement Matters! honor cards will offer discounts to students as well as Centennial faculty and staff; these discounts are generously provided by area business partners. Other elements of this program will be unveiled throughout the school year - stay tuned!

How is the PTSA vital to our success?
PTSA is the backbone of this initiative. Working with an assistant principal and a lead teacher, the PTSA members will work to secure business partners, offer incentives and celebrations, as well as continue to develop new ways to support this program.

At the end of each semester, students with an 80 or above will be recognized in some way. This celebration will be directly connected to the HOPE Scholarship which shares the same requirements as our program.

How are teachers vital to our success?
Other than teaching our students using exceptional instructional strategies, teachers have been given an Achievement Matters t-shirt. Each department member will be given Achievement Matters locker stickers to distribute to students showing improvement or success in the classroom throughout the school year.

How are students vital to our success?
Student motivation and commitment is paramount for our school. With the support and recognition Achievement Matters will bring to the school community, it is our hope students will be excited about learning and will challenge themselves to go beyond what they thought to be possible for themselves.

How are business partners vital to our success?
Business partners will offer discounts on goods and services for students, faculty and staff. This will be printed on the Achievement Matters card and will be given to all students with an 80 average or above each semester. Faculty and staff will also receive the card.

Business partners will be given a decal to display on the window of the business signifying support for Centennial High School.

We encourage the Centennial community to patronize our Achievement Matters! business partners in gratitude for their support of our students and faculty and so that they many continue the support of our students and the community.
