Bio: Ms. Ponder is a native Atlantan. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and completed the teaching certification program at Spelman College here in Atlanta in 1993. She was hired by the Marietta City Schools system as a math teacher at Marietta High School where she taught for several years before moving out of state. During her time away, she enjoyed the opportunity to teach high school math in Maryland and California. She returned to Georgia and her position at Marietta High in 2001, where she remained until joining Fulton County Schools in 2005 at Sandtown Middle School. She taught TAG Math and served as Math Department Contact at Sandtown where she was also recognized as Teacher of the Year. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University.
