Schedule of Actions if a school is in "Needs Improvement"

 

Year One

Year Two

Year Three

Year Four

School is in Needs Improvement (no progress for the past two years)

•  Parents given choice to send child to another school

•  District may offer supplemental educational services

•  School must develop improvement plan

•  Choice continues

•  Supplemental Educational Services must be offered

•  Choice and Supplemental Educational Services continue

•  School must implement corrective action

•  Actions and services from previous years continue

•  School must develop plan for alternative governance for the following year

 

Remember that sanctions currently apply only to Title I schools. However, in future years, ALL public schools will be required to meet Adequate Yearly Progress or have sanctions imposed on them. School districts, also, may be classified as in "Needs Improvement."
