For almost 10 years, Fulton County students have benefited from the proceeds of a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). This one-penny sales tax was first approved by voters in March 1997 and renewed in March 2002.
On March 20, 2007, Fulton citizens will vote on whether to continue SPLOST for an additional five years. |

2007 marks the 20th anniversary of Local School Advisory Councils (LSAC) in Fulton County Schools. Now mandated by law in all Georgia schools, Fulton was an early leader in seeing the benefits of bringing parents, staff and the business community together for school improvement.
School councils meet regularly with the principal to review progress towards strategic goals and objectives. They contribute to the development of the local school budget, discuss
ways to improve communication between the school and home, and provide input on everything from extracurricular activities to dress codes.

It takes approximately $735 million dollars to run an organization the size of the Fulton County School system. Sixty-five percent of that money comes from local Fulton
taxpayers. You are encouraged to learn more about how your tax dollars are spent. The Fulton County Board of Education is beginning budget deliberations for the 2007-08 school
year. All budget meetings are open to the public, are videostreamed live on the Fulton County Schools web site, and then re-broadcast on FCSTV on Comcast Channel 24.

Is your child a rising 11th or 12th grader who wants to work in a challenging environment where they can solve real-world problems? Can they set goals, manage their time, and work independently while guided by an instructor? Are they interested in completing an internship before heading off to college? If so, Connected Academy might be the right school for them.
Opening in August 2007, Connected Academy currently is seeking students to join its inaugural class. You and your student are invited to attend an Information Night on March 26, April 24, or May 21. The
meetings all begin at 7 p.m. at the Milton Center, 86 School Drive in Alpharetta. |
