Project Notebook Guidelines
All projects will be required to have a notebook that documents how the project was created and should contain a hard copy of the final project when appropriate. The only category that does not require a Project Notebook is the Individual Programming Challenge. Be creative! The notebook posted on our website under Resources is only a sample which includes all content required.
Requirements for the notebooks are as follows:
Title page (Name of project, Name of creator(s), Competition category & grade level)
Introductory Page(s) (Introductory Narrative, Lists of Hardware & Software Used)
This should be written in the student's voice. The Introductory Narrative should include the reason for the project creation, a statement of knowledge gained from the creation of the project, and the value of the project for its creator.
Instructions Page(s)
The instructions page(s) must include a description of how the project was created and be written in the student's voice.
Project Samples
The notebook must include a hard copy of the project where appropriate. For example, PowerPoint slides, web pages or programming source code could be included. No tri-boards or large displays as space is limited.
Bibliography
If the student submits a research-type project, a bibliography of sources must be included.
Copyright Permissions
The technology competition supports ethical behavior and respect for the work of others. Therefore any images, text, or recordings not uniquely created by the contestant must have written permission from the owner of the work before it can be used. Work that is uniquely that of the contestant or that is royalty free or in the public domain must have a statement to that effect. Work that is not properly cited will be severely penalized in the judging.
A sample/template for the Project Notebook can be found at the Fulton County Technology Competition website under the Resources link.
