October 1
“Go Live” is a Success! |
||
|
The first
day of SAP – October 1 – was declared a success by the SAP
management team and many users of the system. A few bugs and hiccups were
expected, but overall the first day of using the new requisitioning
(formerly ADPICS), facilities management (formerly ACT), and funds
management (formerly FAMIS) features went very well. Some SAP
users reported being “locked out” when they tried to log-in to
the system for the first time. There are two main reasons for this. The first
is that some data within the funds management component was still being
validated for accuracy, and therefore, access was denied temporarily. This
was resolved by the end of the first day and that component is fully
operational now. The second reason is that some employees trying to log-in
to SAP were not users identified for Phase I implementation. Nearly 1,000
employees were trained for the October 1 implementation and were granted
permissions to access SAP. There are other employees who eventually will gain
the same log-in permissions as SAP implementation continues. So, if you
haven’t gone through the necessary SAP training and received
permissions, be patient – your turn is coming! |

Training
Support on the Horizon for “Human Capital Management” |
||
|
“Human
Capital Management” – or HCM, for short – will
be implemented in January. HCM describes several of SAP’s most
important Human Resources functions, such as Personnel Management
(hiring, transfers, promotions, and taxes), Time Management
(timesheets), Payroll, and Benefits. The Organizational
Management (organizational structure, jobs, and positions) function went
live October 1. There are
two upcoming opportunities to get an introduction to SAP’s HCM
functions. No registration is required. Just drop in! |
||
|
Tuesday, October 16 Professional Learning Center South 9 a.m. – noon |
Monday, October 22 Milton Center 9 a.m. – noon |
|
|
Although
voluntary, these introductory sessions are recommended for anyone who will be
responsible for the HCM functions listed above. They provide an excellent
background for the training that begins in November. If you have any
questions, contact Lance Rascoe with
Ciber. |

New
Facilities Notification Request Form |
||
|
On
October 1, some employees were surprised to find that ACT – a program
that managed facilities maintenance requests – was no longer
operational. That’s because facilities management is now a part
of SAP. A new facilities notification request form needs to
be used for entering maintenance requests into SAP. This form, once completed
by the building custodian or other maintenance personnel, should be given to
the individual who enters facilities notification information into SAP. |

Quick Tip
for the Week |

Remember,
the “Help“ function in SAP is a powerful tool to help you
learn to use the system. Before you call the Help Desk, try using the “Help“
button first! |
