This e-newsletter is sent each Wednesday during SAP implementation to keep SAP users aware of special dates, trainings, and other important need-to-know news. Consider this your “One Stop Shop” for SAP news!

Human Capital Management changes are coming in January

Because of HCM implementation in January, you’ll soon see a change in your personal identification number used by Human Resources as well as a new look to your paycheck advice (paystub).

Beginning in January, employees will no longer use their Social Security Number as a personal identification number on Fulton County Schools’ Human Resources-related documents. This includes documents such as timesheets, benefits information, and paycheck advices.

Instead, you’ll use a new, randomly-generated number (called a “Person ID” in SAP) that is assigned by the SAP program. This Person ID will provide more security of your personal information since it is only tied to your identity within SAP. Social Security Numbers are commonly linked to banking and other financial accounts, so using a randomly-generated Person ID helps safeguard your identity and personal information.

Person IDs will be U.S. mailed to all employees beginning November 30. They will be required for use during December in preparation for the January 2008 pay cycle.

Also beginning in January, the look of your paycheck advices will change. SAP is allowing more detail to be printed inside the document so you will know exactly how you are paid and how your money is withheld. It also will reflect your new Person ID rather than your Social Security Number. An interpretation guide will be distributed with your January paycheck.

No ‘Follow Me’ newsletter on Nov. 21

The “Follow Me to SAP” newsletter is taking next Wednesday off due to the Thanksgiving holiday break. We’ll be back in full force the following Wednesday, November 28.

Quick Tip for the Week

If you are coming up on 30 days using SAP, you will soon need to change your password. Like your other Fulton County Schools log-ins, passwords need to be changed every 30 days.

Here’s how:

·         Type in your current password and click the “New Password” button.

·         Type in your new password. It will prompt you to confirm the new password.

·         Click ‘OK.’

Remember that your password must be eight characters and that you can use any combination of alphanumeric characters, including letters, numbers and punctuation marks. You can not re-use any of the last five previously-used passwords.

Also, passwords should not begin with a question mark, an exclamation point, a blank space, or three identical characters (such as ‘bbbat123’). You also shouldn’t use any sequence of three characters contained in your user ID (for example, ‘man,’ if your user ID is ‘Friedman’).
