A periodic informational email from the Fulton County Schools SAP Management Team

This e-newsletter is sent each week during SAP implementation to keep SAP users aware of special dates, trainings and other important need-to-know news. Consider this your “One Stop Shop” for SAP news!

LAST ONE FOR

SCHOOL YEAR

Readers respond positively to “Follow Me” readership survey

Thank you to all who took the time to complete our readership survey last week.  The results are in and quite supportive.

By the numbers (based on 66 responses):

·         80% of the respondents read the “Follow Me to SAP” e-newsletter every week

·         The most popular “Follow Me” article is the Quick Tip of the Week (selected by 74% of the respondents) followed by the week’s headline article (selected by 71% of the respondents)

·         92% agree that email is the best means of communication to receive SAP updates

·         70% of our readers believe that “Follow Me” frequency should be weekly or twice a month

·         86% agree that Follow Me has been helpful

·         75% feel informed with the status of SAP implementation

We heard requests for step-by-step job-aids and for additional information about how SAP particularly ‘fits’ in specific work areas. There were also several people who expressed the desire for focus groups, demos (online and otherwise) as well as a great suggestion that we are currently investigating – an online SAP user blog.

Basic Computer Skills workshops offered for some employee groups

If you are reading this, then it’s likely you’re one of the thousands of Fulton County employees who use computers in their daily work. But what about everyone else? Not every job in Fulton County requires a computer; for example, bus drivers, maintenance and custodial workers, and cafeteria staff have limited access to computers in their jobs. Some of these employees use them a little, others a lot, and some none at all.

That’s beginning to change as our school system fully switches to SAP. Beginning next school year, all employees – those who use computers and those who do not – will use Employee Self Service (ESS, for short) to manage their personal employee information.

Several summer sessions are being held to help non-computer using employees ease into using SAP, particularly ESS. At these sessions, employees will learn how to turn on a computer and monitor, use the keyboard and mouse, and how to navigate Windows®, email and the Internet.

We take many of these skills for granted, but it’s important to help all of our employees feel comfortable using technology. Printed posters about these trainings have been sent to each school.

“Follow Me to SAP” e-newsletter moving to twice-monthly schedule

The “Follow Me to SAP” newsletter was created primarily to help Phase I users of SAP acclimate to the system and learn more about how SAP affects their job responsibilities. Next school year, SAP transitions more heavily into Phase II and will affect all employees at some point (Employee Self Service) during the school year.

This newsletter will continue on a twice-monthly basis to Phase I users. As we move into Employee Self Service, new and different communication methods will be introduced.

Rest assured, you can still email the SAP Help Desk (SAPhelpdesk@fultonschools.org) or SAPInfo@fultonschools.org with any questions, at any time.
