Fulton County Schools Green Challenge 2015-​2016


Fulton County Schools spends over $17.5 M each year on utilities, the majority of which is in energy costs. Although the District has made efforts to significantly reduce our energy consumption, we believe there is at least an additional $400,000 in savings that we could capture by changing the way we use energy in schools. The goal of our Green Challenge is to encourage schools to help reduce our carbon footprint, while providing support and opportunities for student enrichment and leadership.

What exactly is the challenge?

Schools form Green Teams that lead their efforts to reduce energy and other forms of consumption across the school year. By joining the challenge, schools will receive the following.

  • Up to $750 in initial funding to help jumpstart your efforts​
  • A utility dashboard that allows you to monitor your energy consumption and compare to other schools in the competition
  • Training on performing energy audits and other best practices
  • The opportunity to win up to an additional $750 for your school​

When is the challenge?

​The Green​​ Challenge takes place over the 2015-2016 school year and includes several head-to-head challenges across the school year.

Who is eligible to apply?

All Fulton County Schools are eligible to participate.​
