Crabapple Middle School Celebrates

Farm to School Month with Legumes!

At Crabapple Middle School, students are Making Room for Legumes! Make Room for Legumes is a statewide effort coordinated by Georgia Organics to help kids across Georgia learn about legumes by growing, eating, and identifying them during Farm to School Month. CMS students helped harvest butter beans from their school garden that were served in the school cafe! These activities give students a chance to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-life experience in the garden and cafeteria. Combined with nutrition education, these activities are an effective way to change children’s attitudes about eating healthy foods, including legumes.

It is a federal requirement that all districts that participate in the National School Lunch Program have a Wellness Policy. The District Wellness Council, comprised of stakeholders representing School Nutrition, Student Health Services, Physical Education, Athletics, Communications, and parents, reviews the Wellness Policy. View the Wellness Policy at www.fcsnutrition.com and provide input to schoolnutrition@fultonschools.org
