In December, new hearty lunch entrees and tasty sides have been added to the menus!  With the colder weather of winter, students can warm up with made from scratch Chili, classic Chicken Noodle Soup, and our signature Tomato Basil Soup with golden Grilled Cheese.  Also new to the menus is the Edamame Succotash, a delicious blend of shelled edamame, sweet corn and diced red peppers, and the new Flame Roasted Corn with diced green and red peppers and yellow onions.  Students can also try a taste of southern cuisine with the new steamed collard greens.

On December 16th a farm fresh and chef-inspired Kale & Apple Salad will be served at lunch as part of Fulton County’s School Nutrition Farm to School Initiative.  In August, local Atlanta Chef, Seth Freedman, provided Farm to School training to all Fulton County School Nutrition programs and demonstrated the Kale & Apple Salad.  Now in December, both the kale and apples are being brought to the cafeteria from local sources, maximizing peak freshness!  Because the kale and apples are grown close to home it helps support our local farming economy, and takes less fuel to get to our cafeterias!  The dark leafy green kale is not only locally grown, but also is great for your body!  Kale is packed with vitamins A, C and K!
