Students Enjoy Georgia Grown Watermelon!

As part of the award-winning Farm to School initiative of the Fulton County School Nutrition Program all students had the opportunity to enjoy sweet and juicy Georgia Grown watermelon as part of school lunches in August!

Not only is the farm fresh watermelon good for the environment because it is grown in Georgia and takes less fuel to get to our cafeterias, but watermelon is also great for student health! Watermelon is high in vitamins A, B6, & C, plus potassium and lycopene to help the body work at its best!

Sept 25th was World School Milk Day

Georgia ranked 24th in milk production, 25th in number of milk cows, 32nd in milk output per cow, and 25th in the number of licensed dairy operations during 2012 in the United States.

Each year, on the last Wednesday of September over 40 countries around the world celebrate World School Milk Day.  The 14th Annual event was celebrated on Wednesday, September the 25th.  School cafeterias across the district hosted engaging events including having students dress up as cows, milk mustache photo shoots and milk trivia.
