Professional Learning

The Professional Learning Department provides opportunities for employees to acquire, enhance, and refine the knowledge, skills and commitment necessary to create and support high levels of learning for all students.

Professional learning is an investment in the district's human capital.




  • Provide necessary learning opportunities for teachers to effectively implement the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards.
  • Align professional learning opportunities to the vision and goals of the district, learning communities and local schools.
  • Offer teacher leadership training in order to build the leadership capacity of department/grade chairs, instructional coaches, and mentors.
  • Enhance and expand the capabilities of PD 360 via e-learning and virtual learning courses.   
  • Reach all employees through multiple formats to enhance employee personal and professional growth needs.



  • Provide quality training for professional and support staff.
  • Provide resources and support for school-based training.
  • Manage certification opportunities including tracking and posting credits.
  • Certify training records for recertification and legal arenas.
  • Research K-12 American education news, trends, and events to shape the role of Fulton County's professional development.
